GWO Basic Safety Training

Working at Heights

The aim of the training is to acquire the theoretical knowledge and practical abilities in the area of belaying and evacuation in wind turbines according to GWO standards.

The estimated time of one module is 16 hours, including the time for pauses and meals. The training group consists of maximum 8 trainees.

The practical aims of the module Working at Heights:

  • The ability to demonstrate knowledge in the area of risks and dangers connected with work at heights
  • The ability to demonstrate knowledge in the area of present national law considering working at heights
  • The ability to properly recognize personal protection equipment such as: harness, helmet, belaying lanyard, etc.
  • The ability to properly use the personal protection equipment
  • The ability to properly recognize and use the ladder anchoring points
  • The ability to organize a rescue operation in different parts of the wind turbine and an efficient use of the rescue equipment
  • Becoming acquainted with the ways to alert rescue services
  • Becoming acquainted with the construction and types of wind turbines
  • The ability to conduct a proper radio correspondence
  • The ability to chose and prepare a landing space for a helicopter in the area of a wind park



GWO Basic Safety Training

First Aid


The aim of the training is to acquire the theoretical knowledge and practical abilities in the area of conducting secure and efficient first aid considering the specificity and difficulties in wind turbines according to GWO standards.

The estimated time of one module is 16 hours, including the time for pauses and meals. The training group consists of maximum 8 trainees.

The practical aims of the module First Aid:

  • Becoming acquainted with the basic law regulations of performing first aid in Poland
  • The ablity to secure the area of an accident
  • The ability to alert rescue services, passing further important about the accident  
  • Demonstrating understanding for the prominence of conducting first aid in a manner safe and rational
  • The ability to demonstrate the proper order of activities connected with operations undertaken in the case of an emergency situation in the area of a wind turbine
  • Acquiring the abilities to control the A-B-C parameters of the injured person
  • The ability to use BLS procedures during rescue operations
  • The ability to properly use the external automatic defibrillator (AED)
  • The ability to use the KED vest and the orthopaedic collar as well as its use towards the injured person
  • The ability to properly stiffen the limbs and joints with the use of Kramer brace
  • The ability to prepare the injured person for the evacuation from the wind turbine
  • Construction and types of wind turbines
